Hi - I'm about to get involved w plug-ins but don't know how to use them. I was advised to get a certain reverb plug-in + files to use w it. Is there any trick to all of this or any instructions where I can read how to do it? I didn't see any at first glance at KVR. thanks

You have to download a plug in from a source, such as a website. There are two types, I belive, DirectC and VST. Each work with different types of audio programs. VST is a subsidary of Steinberg, I think, which is the company which produces the DA program Cubase. Plugins allow you to add whatever effect, etc. that file(s) is supposed to do. My understanding of audio overall is very limited, but hopefully this helps. Some other more knowledgeable people will respond. Try www.hitsquad.com to find some free downloads of plugins

Free Reverbs

I agree with Kjaerhus Audio. I just found this site a few weeks ago and all of the plugins work very well. I really like the Limiter, one knob setting!

Another one I use all the time is Freeverb. It works well on my voice, and acoustic guitar. I think this is a must have, but YMMV. Check it out, it's free!

Freeverb

I can't get thru to the Freeverb website. Are you sure it's correct?

It sounds as if the type of plug-in recommended to you was probably a 'convolution' or 'impulse response' reverb.

These use 'impulse responses' from real live environments or from hardware units and applies these responses to your audio signal. The science of it goes over my head a bit but it works very well and is easy to use once you get used to it.

You just need to set the plug-in as a vst effect and then load your impulse response into the plug-in.

I use SIR and I get IRs from noisevault.

Oh and it's all free.
