Plug-ins: VST vs DX.

Not an expert on this subject, but...

I don't believe VST is inherently better sounding than DX, it's simply a different format. VST has been around longer and, hence, has wider support so the answer to your second question is yes, you will find a wider selection of VSTs. As far as resources goes, I think the answer to that is more a function of the particular plug-in than anything specific to the format. IOW, a VST reverb will be more resource hungry than a DX chorus.

A wrapper is a small program that "wraps" your DX plug-ins so that they appear as VSTs to the host program, thus allowing you to use them within a program that doesn't natively have DX plug-in support.
