Plextor CDRW Drives ( external ? )

I'v been looking at Plextor cdrw drives. Anyone have any info on External units that they make. I notice the external units i'v seen talk about " firewire" hookup. Im not sure what "firewire" is. Will these units work ok with regular PC setups , via usb connection?
 
In my experience, Plextor makes GREAT burners. I've only used internal drives, but I'm pretty sure their external units are reliable too. Firewire is a type of connection, commonly used with DV camcorders. It's similar to USB, but faster (1.0 at least). Why aren't you considering an internal drive?
 
I like the plug and play thing better than taking my computer apart, The 'firewire" thing just threw me. Anyway, I bought a cheap memorex, thinking i'd get buy....what a wast of 50$, Burns Crap.I'v noticed several of the mastering guys here use Plextor, and there really seem all that expensive, so Fuck It, I'm off to get one.
