Walter, you know I am a big fan, but I will have to wait to listen. myspace is blocked on government servers... :(

you have an incredible voice

you just need to watch some of the timing.. both drums and guitar.. if you polish it just a little bit this would be nothing short of incredible.

thanks eeb! I appreciate the advice on timing. To be honest, I can't play in normal time. When I get with a player that keeps perfect time, I am lost in no time. The 1 man band set up has been a gift for me in this respect. I like to move the time around my voice/guitar. I know this grates on a lot of people, but I guess you could say it is my style. I learned music from a lot of the old bluesmen. they kept their own time. Lighting Hopkins use to say when you played with him, you played "lightning time". I kind of naturally fell into that approach. Making everything up as I go along, I have no idea what is coming out and I stretch/shrink the time as it comes out. It is all one take and done. A guy on gearslutz is going to put strings behind it. Maybe someday someone will do a full production of some of my songs. I would love to hear what they do with them. Walter

Hello Walter,
the guitar has a very early rolling stones edge to it with this one - but that's because they tapped into the right sources.
Heavy stuff but on the spot too.
Could you provide a link to your soundclik page more often? I find that myspace takes an eon to load. I know you use the embedded soundclick players so the quality is better than myspace too but not as good as the hifi streamer at click.
I have to agree with eeb that the song really does deserve removal from the spontobeat format to be remixed with some reworking/retracking (only the support elements as the voice, guitar & harmonica and on the money) to take it to the next level.

I have to admit that the spontaneous-song style isn't really my cup of tea. I like my songs to rhyme. :-) That said, this one was really good.

Man, the quality of this site has gone way up in the several months (years?) since I was an active member. I used to come into the MP3 Mixing Clinic and feel like I could help people. Now, I'm having trouble finding recordings that don't already sound professional (and needless to say, much better than my own)! Well done!

Hi Rokket! Thanks for the support! You can find it at this site as well. Maybe that will get through. Walter

One of these days, I would love to collab with you, myself! It's amazing to me that you make it up as you go. Your head must be full of inspiration 24/7! How do you sleep? :D

Nice as always. If I get a chance, I am going to download all your stuff for my brother. He will love it too.

What a classy blues tune, Walter!
Your voice is fantastic, great feel. Nice raw bluesy stuff, well done.
Love the lyrics, reminds me of 60's protest stuff.

Joe :D:D

Thanks for that compliment! THe stones were my favorite band as a young teen. The beatles never caught my fancy like the Stones. I will do the soundclick site. I had no idea about those issues. If you or anyone wants to work that song, let me know. I just don't have it in me. Walter

thanks! I use to come to these forums and just listen to songs and feel like I would never get my quality anywhere near it. Walter

You can come by anytime Rokket. Recently I had a person want to work this song, and another want to cover another song. It was the first time anyone asked me this. I would love to hear what people would do. My stuff is so simple, and simply recorded, I am sure I would be blown away. I am up for people covering my stuff as long as it is not for profit (unless they honestly put me in the loop). Walter

Thanks joeym! I was a young hippy and went to lots of protests in DC. they were powerful. Not only on the stage was the music strong, but also all the folks with guitars in the nooks and crannies of lawns. The blues I found after being a hard core rock and roll fan. Walter

Yup, this is way cool Walter :D. Love checking out your stuff...you are probably the most prolific musician I know of. A nice narrative on this one...had me glued. I love the soundclick player on there as it sounds so much better than the normal myspace player. Keep on keeping on man.:)

Hi heatmiser: Thanks for the compliment. I love these ballad type songs more as I get older. I still like to rip it up some, but this groove allows for much more shaping of notes and sounds and stuff. It also is easier to mix for some reason than my faster stuff. Walter

Way to go Walt!! Hey I did a few gigs with Louisiana Red also.

hi jordokid: THanks! Where did you play with Red? I lived with him out on Long Island NY. If you see him tell him I say hi. Walter

I did three or four gigs with Red and Carey Bell in Spain about 15 years ago. I was the drumber and interpreter. I haven't seen him since but I believe he is still in Germany.
