Even funnier is that you'll probably get some serious answers.

But you forgot to add:
What is EQ and how do I use it?
What is compression and how do I use it?

i'm a begginer in that domain, and you just know a little of it , you think that you are the boss, damn u

Quick. You still have time to edit your first post and add those questions.

1) Shure SM58
2)not with the Shure SM58
3)Plenty to choose from out there...you dont have to have the MBox...Id reccomend the Line6 UX1.
4)Depends on what you want...but if you go with the line6 interface and pre you get Abelton live for free.
5)In the line6 gearbox software you will get preamp models...eq and compression plugins that are digital representations of what they are using in the top studios.

Hello :)
thanks for doing that forum..
...ok...

i want to sing pop / rnb and need equipement,
This line-by-line quoting thing just encourages you to be facetious so I'm going to stop myself there and get onto your questions...

1) what's the best microphone under 100$
That's a very difficult question for several reasons. Firstly, $100 isn't a lot when it comes to buying recording gear - even when trying to do things on the cheap you can end up spending hundreds or thousands on gear. Secondly, there isn't a 'best' microphone [in a specific price range]. Personal preferences aside, different mics suit different voices, rooms, even mixes (mics are often chosen for the characteristics that will most suit that track's position in the mix).

Finding a mic you like can be a long trial-and-error process; buying mics, testing them, selling on the ones you don't like, etc. I'm not too hot on sub-$100 mics so I'll let someone else post some recommendations, but its much better to try a mic out and make your own judgments rather than just take one person's opinion of one.

2) do i will need pop filter
If you get a condenser mic, especially a large diaphragm one, then yes.

3) do i will need Mbox ?? & why ?
I'll assume you're getting slightly confused with terminology here and you mean to say an 'audio interface'. Mbox is a range of audio interfaces sold by digidesign for use with Pro Tools LE.

So, do you need an audio interface? The answer is probably yes.

To get the signal from a mic to the computer you first need a mic preamp to amplify the signal from the mic, an AD converter to convert the signal to digital, then some way of feeding that digital signal into the computer.

An interface is a combination of all these (though some of the really really cheap ones lack mic preamps) wrapped up in a nice box that usually connects to your computer via USB or firewire. It is by no means the only way to get audio in and out of a computer, but its the easiest way to get started. Basically, don't go thinking that you can just plug the mic straight into your laptop's 'mic input' :D

4) what's the best software to record under Windows Vista system ( laptop )
Vista rings alarm bells. However, for fear of making this reply much much longer I'll skimp over that for now.

So, you have a lot of choice when it comes to picking a DAW. To name a few; Sonar, Cubase and Pro Tools are popular choices for Windows users.

However these are quite expensive and probably offer a lot of features you don't need, so I would recommend looking at something like Reaper...

How do you bake a good cake?

Thanks So Much , you reply is very useful for me !

hey MATTR ... lol, your reply is funniest than useful, lol , but it's really userful :D

Before you thank me...there is going to be a bit of learning involved before you get professional results...but the tools are there.

I like the Audio Technica mics too

I think they make great mics too...but you cant find anything in the 40 series for under $200 used...the AT3035 can be found for arround $100 but the price of the recomended pre goes up when you add phantom power requirements.

So all you guys think that someone named anass asking for the best $100 mic is serious?

Mic forum raid.

Missed that part. OK, you're all right.

Though come to think of it, it is quite a good analogy :D

i.e. its a sum of all its parts, what constitutes a good cake is personal preference, there are many different recipes and ways to bake a cake

I think I may use that one again, but maybe with a little explanation to go with it. Maybe a bit too condescending though?

I like cake :) Apparently it was my first word

I bought an AKG Perception 200 from www.musicgoround.com for 100.00 and it came with the case and shock mount and I like it's sound. I've heard good things about the Sure 57 so that might be an option. The 57's run about 100.00 and latter down the road you can use them on close miking drums guitars and all kinds of things. I have downloaded a free trial of Reaper and that seems to be OK. I'm only using that to be able to burn Cd's after recording with analog tape.
