hi there i have been recording for a few months with a tascam dp-01fx and ive just bought the focusrite trakmaster pro to work with my tascam mainly for compression purposes, ive tried a couple of recordings and to be honest i cant tell any difference to what i was achieving without the trakmaster, im fairly new to this and was wondering if im using the equipment incorrectly, should there be a noticable difference ?????

mant thanks

are you using the optional digital output feature on the Focusrite?
I see usb interface on the Tascam but, I think it is out only....
are you using the pre on the Tascam or the Focusrite?
Or both?
The Focusrite should be first in the chain....You need to use the line outs of the focusrite to the line in on the Tascam....Use the Focusrite Pre-amp and effects and zero out the ins on your Tascam and adjust on two channels for eq on mix down....
Do you have the wiring schematics correct?
Can you describe your signal chain in whole?

Thanks for the feedback joro, im not using the digital output on the focusrite, my condenser mic is connect to the mic in on the focusrite and the focusrite is connected to one of the line ins on the tascam, sorry if this sounds stupid but what do you mean by zero out the ins on the tascam and adjust on two channels for EQ on mixdown.

What I mean't is to try to use the Tascam controls on mixdown only...to have everything set at zero while tracking.......and try to use the Focusrite to make adjustments into the Tascam for a cleaner signal....
It's sounds like you have it correct....
perhaps it's the mix that needs help...not the tracking....

good luck man..
