Please help with critique of "production" music

Hey kids - again looking for feedback. This is another tune for "production music" inclusing film, tv, games etc.

I haven't decided if I want to put a solo in here - what do you guys think?

I am thinking extreme skiing, skateboarding, surfing etc.

Dude, I really like your shit! Every time I hear something you posted it makes me want to go punch an old librarian in the face, drink something with the word "devil" in the name, play 16 games of Galaga, and then light somebody's hamster on fire.

On a casual listen, I would say bring some of those melody parts up in the mix. The chunky rhythm is great and has a nice groove, but sometimes it drowns out the other cool stuff you have going on. Your playing is spot-on though, and you've got a great sense of feel as far as keeping with the rhythm of the tune (kind of a rarity in this forum...)

Just kidding about that top comment...I probably wouldn't last through that many games of Galaga...
 
Hey thanks Purge - mucho appreciated. Actually - before reading this I went in last night and beefed up some of the melody guitars and added some more textural guitars as well. Good call - it is a bit "dry" or something as is. I'll post the remix in the next day or 2 and get your feedback again!

it smokes Leon! :) Nice layers and it's kicking. Its got a touch much sub on the kick for me. a bit more of the crunch rythym seems a lil dominant on the left, could swing out on the right a few degrees and let the higher end riffs hang between them a lil more. Righteous pickin!
 
id like a little bit more bass guitar in the mix personally.

but in terms of toyota truck commercials its good. :cool:
 
Thanks duders! More bass hey? You know what sucks is that I lost the original files and only have a stereo track left. Is it possible to take some of the sub off the kick and boost the bass guitar on the stereo track? I have T-racks - maybe some eq? Suggestions appreciated. Thanks again.
 
meh...

id say the mix you have is sufficient to get you a jingle or commercial deal.

At that point they might even hire a mastering engineer to pump it up for tv sound anyways.

as for an answer to your question....

T-racks is cool, but again I dont see my bass opinion being crucial enough for you to even need to use it.
