please help me setup cards for Audition 2

I'm using Adobe Audition 2.0 now (1.1 previously) and I can't for the life of me get my sound cards set up right now. I am using an M-Audio 2496 for my inputs from a dual channel mic preamp and want to use my Sound Blaster Live! for the output to hear what I'm recording. I can configure the program to get each card doing its proper task, but not at the same time. I don't want to have to edit the settings to switch between recording and listening every time I want to do something. For the M-Audio to record properly I noticed it has to be set for M-Audio Analog. I haven't been able to find a way to keep the inputs as M-Audio Analog and then have the output as my SB Live! card. Please help :confused:
 
If you are using Asio drivers, Audition cannot address more than one at a time (this is generally the problem with Asio). However, if you download and install Asio4All (freeware) and wrestle with its control panel for a little while, you should be able to achieve what you want that way.
 
why on earth would you want to record through the 24/96 then degrade the signal by playing back through a soundblaster?

I can only imagine you have computer speakers with a stereo jack that don't fit the 24/96. It's time to invest in some real monitors or take a trip to radioshack and get a stereo to 2 mono adapter and some step up adapters for your cables to the 24/96

Agreed.

Rain Dog: the 24/96 should be used for both in and out. The sound you're going to get out of it is considerably better than the SB Live!
