ok well my friend just moved into his new house and we are going to use his basement for our studio. the only problem is that his dad wont let us open up his computer and put a soundcard in it. so what can we get besides 1 that has to be put into ur computer.

I may be completely wrong here but if you get a firewire interface you should just be able to plug that into your mobo firewire port and that'll act as your soundcard. Although being a mac man I may be completely wrong. If all else fails punch your friends dad in the face and tell him he's a bitch.

This - LINK - is the cheapest USB interface that I know of and it comes with software. It connects to the Universal Serial Bus on any computer, Mac or PC - the software is PC only. It's something that can be removed when not in use so that should make your friends' Dad feel better...
