I'm editing and mixing a Christian pop music CD for the kids at my church. Of course, I'd like energy (the performances and tones are good), PUNCH, full low end, and pleasing highs, but the plug-ins with my Digi 001/Pro Tools LE are overwhelming me. So many choices...
I've heard I should compress the lead vocal to make it "pop" out - what kind of specs should I use? Does a lead vocal have to be on a stereo aux buss, or can it be mono? I don't have months to tweak!
I'd like to use the e.q. plug-ins to create space for each instrument. Can anybody give me a few basics they use for creating a punchy, listenable overall mix?
Also, I am using two stereo aux busses for reverbs (one short verb for drums and other stuff, and one longer one for vox). Is that a good way to go?
