Please help decide between monitors.

Hi

My friend wants some powered monitors just for listening to music. He's not a musician or producer, just likes music and wants something decent to listen through.

He likes the sound of his house mates Alesis Monitor 2's (powered), but they are a little larger than he'd like.

I have a small list of smaller decent monitor, I'd love some opinions of any of them, so I can advise him a bit better. Thanks for any assistance. here is the list of those in the right size and price bracket (£300 max a pair).

I don't know if i'd want to listen thru studio monitors. They're more expensive than an amp and end user speakers. You can shop for loads of bookshelf speaks you like. You'll probly find nice set w/ a sub for less than nearfields, other reasons too....
