Okay, I asked this question before, had 42 views, and not 1 reply or answer, so I'm going to broaden the question, in hopes that someone might be able to help. So, here's the deal. I'm using fl studio for making instrumental tracks, and using adobe audition 3 to record. I use an m-audio mobile-pre usb interface for mic input and sound output to speakers, basically for input and output. So...the question is, EVERY track I open (or work on) in either fl studio OR Adobe sounds distorted, compared to when opened in windows media player (or ANY OTHER media player). For example, say I open up a new song, ripped straight from a cd. If I open it in fl studio or adobe, it sounds a bit amplified, and clipped. If I play the same track in ANY media player, it sounds WONDERFUL>!>! (I've checked the obvious, such as volume, etc.)

The problem here is that I cannot do any type of recording, because if I export ANY mp3 from fl or adobe, it will end up sounding like crap when replayed in, say, windows media player. Basically, my output seems whacky, whether it's coming through the speakers, or being rendered to a file.

Any idea why this is happening?

maybe
but you need to tell us everything in detail
what connections from to for everything in and out
what opsys, what options set in the sound card driver, the opsys sound control, etc

Okay. It's a pretty simple set up. And, I should mention that this set-up formerly ran PERFECTLY when using earlier versions of fl and adobe. I used to use fl studio 5, and adobe audition 1.5, and have recently upgraded to fl 9, and adobe audition 3.0. That's where my problem started. Something must not be configured right. I am using a pc running windows 7. No sound card, the 'M-Audio Mobile-Pre usb' acts as the sound card. I run a mic into the 'mobile-pre' (input), and the mobile pre rca output runs to my stereo. Everything works through usb. All of my sound options in these programs are set for the mobile pre (in and out). I don't know what other info I can give??

It's driving me crazy because the 'mobile-pre' is used for everything. I can watch movies, listen to music, and the sound (output) is superb. As soon as I start opening things up in fl or adobe, the sound automatically sounds louder and distorted.

perhaps

i stayed with xp pro to avoid vista and 7 problems.

win 7 is known to be hard to get working with audio.
either you have some control setting wrong in the signal path that does not work or else some cable is plugged wrong.

or you may be using a windows component that is messing with the signal in that path with the distortion.

do you have the *latest* drivers from the sound card maker
you really dont want to be using microslop software for audio if you have an alternative

Is your moble-pre usb interface assigned as the windows playback device? If it isnt, try that, and then listen to something from Windows Media Player. If there is distortion, you have just isolated the problem to the interface.
