please help a newbie

i've got a portastudio 2. i can only record 2 tracks. i put guitar jack in mic 1 or guitar in or mic 2. select any track. fine. i then choose any jack and any track an 2nd track in fine. but after that nada. it either doesn't record or it records over an existing track. what i really want to do is record guitar and a drum track at the same time (which I can do) and then add track which i can't.

You can only record up to 2 tracks at a time with budget PortaStudios.......

Hay there, isnt there a little switch to select which of the four tape tracks your input is routed to? and does it not also have a safe position to prevent recording over previous takes. PS. try recording something on channel one , flip the cassette , now the track is on channel four and its reversed, wow, freaky man.

2 tracks or more portastudio 2

even when i try to record after i record my first tracks i can't record more than 2 tracks ever. how can get 3 or 4 tracks?
