Okay, I have set up my daw and I am thinking about buying the Lynx Two 24/192 card. I want this cause I dont need alot of tracks, but the few I need, have to be pro quality.

I will only need a couple of channels, cause I record all of the tracks myself, usually one or two at a time. I have a drummer that comes later and puts a beat down for like, $50 bucks a song. So when he does that im going to need at least 6 ins for all of the mics for the drums.

So should get something like a delta 1010?

Or should I stay with the Lynx and get a mixer and submix the drums down to, say 4 tracks?

And if I get a mixer what would be a good small mixer that is quiet and clean with good preamps, that would'nt degrade my signal? I was thinking of the Soundcraft M series?

I need help pretty bad folks? I have done a lot of research, but dont really know what none of this stuff sounds like?

Do you want to record with a mixer? If you don't have a mixer and are on a budget I'd look into the Aardvark Q10. It has enough channels for you, and it has preamps, so you won't have to buy a mixer. The Q10's preamps won't be "pro" quality, but it's a start.

groovy

Q10 huh?

I will look into that, Thanks for the info

You could also get a ST-Audio C-Port for about 400 bucks. Very good quality 24/96 - very similar (if not the same) converters as the Delta 1010. Between this and a modest mixer, you'd be in the same ballpark as the Q-10.

Submixing drums can really suck - I've been this route before, and leaves you with very few mixing options to get a quality track. I'd recommend going with any of the 3 multi-input cards mentioned in this thread.

Avoid Aardvark like the plague. Their support is absolute shit. It took them over a year to get working WDM drivers for 2000/XP. If you go over to www.audioforums.com you will see tons of people are still having problems with them as well.

lol

Yea I see that , thanks man.

I think im going to go with the layla 24/96

found it pretty cheap on bayview
