The not fountain head
Lol.. bored today and would like to mix something... Can be a series of stem files (WAV), pro tools, or even a reason project (which I will mix in pro tools)... Anyone? I'm hoping it will turn out well but I can't guarantee... I'm gonna check some of the old contest threads to see if any of the files are still up...

Thanks and Happy Thanksgiving... :D

I don't have anything for you, sorry dude. But happy thanksgiving.

Also, why are they called "stem files"? Why not just tracks? Or is there a difference...

Danny,

Stems are submixes created from more than one individual track. For example, one might provide a stereo percussion stem instead of a half-dozen individual drum tracks.

Nothing either, sorry.
Unless you want to mix my turkey stuffing. :)

Stems are like mini mixes kinda. A guitar stem would be a stereo bounce of all the guitars in the mix. So if there were 20 guitars, you could only apply effetcs to all of them at the same times.

Ah ok. Thanks Glenn and Eck.

Right on.... Thanks for the replies though.. lol..

Yeah. By stems I meant what is posted above.. As well as meaning tracks that start a zero, regardless of when the instrument comes in...

I have someting in Sonar 5. Would like to hear a differnet mix, but out of town right now. Interested?

Sure.. If you can get me a zip file with the stems in it, I'll give it a go...

ahhhh.....remember the old mix competition days we used to have on this board

Actually, you may be looking for soemthing more professionally recorded with mics. My drums are midi BFD and guitars through amplitube. You'd have to have that or some guitar software. Let me know.

Don't have any guitar software at the moment... Sorry...

Peritus - are you still bored enough to want to mix someone else's stuff? I've got one for you if so. I have a triple-miked solo fingerstyle guitar piece that needs some clever work to correct phase issues. Want to have a go at it? I've taken it about as far I am able.
