Wow, that's bad... if I were you, I'd pull out the metal grinder and show who's boss!

But I guess that would be classified as in "Good Condition" for me.

Maybe I'm just old and cranky, but I still don't get it. What's so damn hard about properly installing strings? I know experienced guitarists who just can't get their strings to stay in tune. And don't get me started about people who say "Bigsbys won't stay in tune."

Maybe a person should have to get a "re-stringing license" before being allowed to buy a guitar.

This is one reason I love my PRS tuners. Nice and neat like uncle pete;)
At first I did not like the new fangled things, but now I love them.

F.S.

what could they been thinking????????????????????????

Oh, hi there! I'd like to get a guitar set up. How much is it?

...

Really?

...

PLUS strings!?

...

OK, fine. I'll go get it.

Yep, that's what we call it, too.

He really did that?

As good as! He wound the string through the capstan hole then twice more with a knot each time. Then wound about 8 or 9 turns onto the post. The things looked like those bobbins you see on knitting machines:eek:

Hell, you've got me laughing now. :)

I can recall playing with more than one guitarist that was compelled to put as many wraps as possible around the posts but I've never known anyone to tie knots in the things as they were winding them.

Wow. That's really bad.

Years ago, I probably used maybe 4-6 wraps before I learned better. But Tying them on? Sad.

It may be unsightly and unnecessary, but a small pair of sidecutters will take that crap off in a few seconds.

Not if they are triple wound through the capstan holes and tied back on them selves it won't. Trust me.;)

Don't worry, Mutt. I've hit upon a solution that'll save you a whole load of time. I mean, there's no need to tie the string on three or four times if you just put a little dollop of superglue on the tuning machine before you string it up. Problem solved. :D

Now, um, could someone give me a hand getting my thumb off the headstock?

Well, now, I wouldn't trust an important job like that to superglue.

Since we're talking about metal strings and metal tuner posts, I think JB Weld would be much more appropriate. :D

Or, wait! You could just tack-weld the string to the post! :D
