You may recall light on myself moaning on regular occasions about the way some people tie the strings onto their tuners. Well I got this one in today and literally had to cut them and pry them off with pliers and cutters. Each string had not just been double wrapped through the post hole but tied at least three times and wound on the post untill the post was hidden.:mad::mad::mad:

I got so frustrated I stopped and took a picture to share with you all. My fingers are now full of tiny holes and I'm mad a hell.

DON'T DO IT I TELL YOU. You need no more than two turns on each string maximum and the strings do NOT slip on the posts.

Be nice to your friendly neighborhood luthier.:o

You have my condolences.

My fingertips cringe in pain just looking at that photo. I can only imagine what yours feel like.

My sympathies during this difficult time.

While I have occasionally "tied one on" that guy needs to have his license revoked.

Thank You all. My fingers still hurt and I have tough callouses both through playing and a lifetime in the workshop.

Hold me.:o

Must've taken some effort to get it like that in the first place! :?

Give whoever it was a rollickin' when they come to pick it up. Maybe leave a string off so you can show him how to do it properly.

That looks JUST like my guitar!

:D

Sorry for the woes, boss. Lemme grab ya a beer. Then I'll hold ya. (I heard you're easier after a couple brews. :D)

I HATE boneheads like that!!!!:mad::mad::mad:
...chainsaw???
Or I prefer a gallon of gas and a match, ON THE OWNER!!!!

I never loop and tie my strings.

Unless of course I am taking my guitar in to get worked on:D

I'd feel too tempted to snap off the headstock out of rage and just to make it easier to get the strings off.

Was the guy using it for a weed eater? Last time I saw a mess like that it was on an open face fishing reel. All I can say is "I sure hope he got his merit badge in knot tieing." And you deserve a medal for untangling that mess.

So you're saying I shouldn't be using these elaborate slipknots to attach my strings?

Well now I know! (And knowing is half the batle!)
