We have a sure pg42 microphone and a maudio interface.

We are trying to make our own cd. Any feedback is welcomed as long as its constructive.

We applied a good bit of acoustic treatment to the room including insulated boards hung on the wall and bass traps in the corners.

thanks
Tim

this is post two only 8 more to go. I have to put a link to the video so people can help me with my recording

post 5. I think having a moderator on the first few posts would have been better than requiring me to post 10 times before I can post an url. Nobody can see my recording until I post 10 times!

post 6: You also have to wait 10 seconds between posts which is why I'm typing so much...by the time I get done..I get to post again.

Post 7: Seven is my lucky number..only 3 more after this one.

Post 8: Post eight is great because I only have 2 more to go. When I was eight..the world was a lot different....

Post 9. Post nine is kind because it's the second to last..my fingers are getting tired...reminder I have to do this because if Idon't..I want be able show everyone my video of my home recording..

Post 10 and I win. I made it through 10 post just so I cud upload a video link. so folks here could help me with my home recording...

There's a reason for the 10-post minimum....it's to keep spam-bots from posting spam links with a single registration and post.
Also, if you went to the Newbies forum first....you would see that there is a "Get Your 10 Post" thread just for this purpose, so you don't have to create a whole new thread to get 10 posts. :)
And....you're questions would probably be better served in the Newbies section anyway.

That said...
From the short video clip....all I can say is:
Get your daughters (I assume they are your daughters) into a decent studio or at least with someone who's done some recording and has more than one mic and single interface....because that little girl can sing, and the other one plays great,
IOW....you guys might get more mileage if you could just focus on your performances, and let someone else deal with the technical recording issues of making it sound good.

Of course, if you are determined to do it all yourself with the gear you have....what kind of specific help/questions are you looking for?
Overall it's not bad for a home/YouTube video kind of thing....but you need to get the level balanced better between the singing and instruments, and when she really belts it out, I'm hearing some distortion (she could tone it down a tad, as it does sound a bit forced in spots)....but you have the basic ingredients AFA the talent goes, so you just need to improve on the recording technique if you want to do it with a single mic and "live" as a group.

What part of the country are you in?

I saw one of your videos said Columbia County Fair....as in NY?

Um yeah, you guys have some talent. I'm guessing you all are siblings based on the promo video.

Bluegrass is recorded differently than other genres. There are some people on this site who play/record bluegrass so you might want to do some serious searching for how-to's. There is a member named Elton Clifton who, I believe, has recorded some bluegrass stuff in the past with great results. He is usually found in the MP3 Clinic. Which is where this thread belongs and I'll move it there.

Lesson number one: With one mic, set your recording software to track MONO, not stereo. That way the sound will come out both speakers.

Welcome to the site.

Sounds pretty good!! The vocals are panned too hard to the left for me. I'm just wondering how it might sound if recorded in a larger space, but it's impressive anyway. Thanks for sharing! Very talented all around.
