Hi.
This is the first time I recorded some songs with a whole band, so I would appreciate some feedback of more experienced people with comments. The only thing I already noticed myself (after mixdown unfortunately) is that the keys are much too loud, and the performance of the song is really a serious disadvantage.

Anyway, this song, called Paradox, is recorded with the following equipment (quite cheap, we've got some serieus financial problems with the band):

-Fostex 8track
-(only) 3 mics for the drums, existing of 2 bassdrums, 5 toms (incl. floor), and 5 cymbals.
-Voices: Shure SM58
-Keys: direct input
-Guitar: Shure (forgot the type)
-Bass: Direct from amp's Line Out

So, what do you think about it?
Thanks,
Maarten.

IMO the bass is too loud. And the mix is all in the center again. You have so many instruments. USE PANNING.
And the sound really doesn't suit the song. The bass player should try to find a more original sound. And there is a lot of noodling going on with all the instruments. You have to be more sure of what you are playing it will give the mix 50% more tightness.

Ok....... so now they've removed my page from angelfire...
great... but please see my next thread for another song whose link DOES (still) work.

Thanks

and thanks for the feedback for this song, warlock. The problem with this song was, that we hadn't got enough time left to record it track by track so we did it live and enormously in a hurry. You noticed it. The same story for the new song I posted, but I've got also the other ones, all panned and not recorded all at once, so a lot better. I'll post them when I've finished them. At this time, please give me preferently critics about the way the song is recorded, and not about the song itself. thanks.

One more thing. About the vocals. You have 2 vocalists, right? Are they both done with a SM58? The second vocalist doesn't sound like a SM58 IMO :).

Or this is an amazing good guess, or you've got amazing good ears. At least better than me. But you're right. I forgot the type, but it's also a Shure. Indeed, a cheaper one :).
