Hey guys,
What do you think of this PC's specs?
Please follow the link

http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applicati...55-2110 A&CMP=EMC-TIGEREMAIL&SRCCODE=CANEM249

I'm lookin at being able to record and play back approx 24 tracks - mostlikely with some kind of effects on most tracks. I'll need to be able to record 8 tracks simultaniously. Will this PC handle this? Bomb Proof?

Still not sure which software route to go.
Digi 002, Cubase, Cakewalk, Powertracks?

Then there's the sound card dillema. So much to choose from and having no experience with this format of recording.

Any feedback to help with my decisions will be very much appreciated.

I want to invest in this DAW world, but only once. You know?
I invested a lot of dough back in 1998 for my D-80 and other gear. It was great but never let me do what I ideally wanted to do. Being able to keep original drum tracks without having to gang them and dump them down.

thats quite a powerfull system for the money.
and should last you a long time if you look after it.
just make sure the sound card is compatible with it.
by asking the sound card manufacturer you choose.
i would add a second drive. on a seperate channel.
heres another to compare
canadasys.com
by the way ...re investing once. sadly this is not a perfect world.
somebody else might buy the tiger system and have a great time with it.
but you might get one component thats bad. hence make sure you get warranties etc. NO TECHNOLOGY IS PERFECT.
but thats pretty near state of the art for the price.

And whatever you do, don't use Paypal with TigerDirect. They actually lost me as a customer because they don't monitor their Paypal account very well.

turkey. i been thinking. it mught be better for you to deal with a local mom and pop builder in your town close by. instead of dealing over the net. is there anyone near you ?

Ya, there's a few mom and pop kinda dealers around.
I'll go and make a visit or two.

thanks

turkey. some of them are excellent. others - be carefull.
try and get some references if you can and solid warranties.
some mom and pops chintz on the power supply.
OVERSPEC THE POWER SUPPLY.
i would also settle on the soundcard you want before you get the computer so you can test the sound card at the mom and pops place before paying them. if youhave a synth you can record a few traks at mpops place and see if you get any probs.
try and get an nvidea chipset. keep pci slots free except for the sound card.
if you dont need a slew of tracks amd sempron system might
meet your needs. GET 8 MB CACHE HARD DRIVES, one small one for windows, and larger one for tracks.
peace.
