Hi folks. It's a Latin guitar/hip hop thing. Sort of. Let me know what you think!

Cheerz.

I got into the sound of this tune right off, I like the guitars and it's got emotion. Speaking just for myself here I'm having a difficult time with the percussion. It just seems to come in with a piercing high shrillness that to me (don't take this as nothing but my stupid opinion) hurts the song.

I really like the guitars! :)

good tracking on the instruments. Very tasteful playing. The shaker and the tamb are a little too crisp and a touch too loud in the mix. I'd like to think of this as all the instruments coming off a stage and be sitting about 15 to 20 ft out front listening. Kind of a live acoustic sound. That image would sorta want the perc' inst's a littel more subdued.. Very nice stuff man..

Thanks guys - I'm gonna go back and relisten to the percussion and tweak as suggested. It's always good to get some fresh ears listening.

Cheers.

Real clean guitar sounds. Good playing. Good feel to the song. I especially liked the tone on the lead guitar.

I didn't care for the drums. They were a little on the abrasive side. I thought they distracted attention from the guitars.

Not a big problem, but I thought in general the guitars needed a little more warmth.

I heard some crackling on the right side around :23-:24. It could just be pick noise, I couldn't tell for sure.

All in all a pretty good job.

espskully !!

I like the rhythm and the guitar playing of this very much.
A remix with subdued percussion would be a must-have for the KEEPER folder.

Good Work

Wide... skillful gtrs... a lil' fuzzy... but passable at this point (if ya wanna persue a cleanup in that direc, look to your cables, "room", pre's, and then mics)

The percussion is peaky between 6k-8k... and a bit loud... it's bullying that sweet lead guitar... reminiscent of JMarcomb...

NICE switch to the hot, blues tone gtr there... (blues tone, but almost flamenco flavor...) sweet. Bass is decent and works fine.

I'd just scale back that electronic percussion about 2.5 db... and put a slight EQ dip somewhere between 6-8k to take the hard edge off.

Really reminds me of Jeff's stuff. Cool

Thanks friends. I took your advice and brought the volume down on the drums and changed the hihat to a more realistic one.

Is the hihat too loud?

Cheerz and thanks again!

Nice

Why didn't you use a latin percussion setup? Obviously the percussion needs to come down. But a switching the kit to a latin set would really be cool. I know you are trying to bring the hip-hop thing into a latin piece, but I think it would really be a great groove by allowing it to be what it wants to be--all latin. It would still have the tasty beat but more flavor!

You know I've been thinking about that. Can you give me an example of what drums to use? I have Sampletank XL and a JV1010 with the drums and bass expansion card.

Very nice. I like the tune, tasty. I like the perc sounds a bit better in this version.

i love the latin feel.

I bet you and Jmarcomb could do one hell of a colab :)

signal chain?

Mics, pre, compression, reverb, intruments...?

Andre

For the acoustic guitar: my Gibson J30 mic'd with a cheapy Apex wide dia. condenser into my Mackie 1202vlz and into my Delta soundcard. I'm using Logic Platinum and I inserted Logic's compressor, an EQ and a Logic reverb.

The electric: my Les Paul Custom into a POD XT straight into the soundcard - a Logic compressor inserted on that.

The drums: Sampletank XL (kick and snare) and a Roland hihat.

I inserted Logic's Multipressor (multiband compressor) on the main outputs and bounced it to a 24bit file, then "mastered" that in T-racks (using the tube warmth preset I believe).

Cheerz!
