macle!

I like this, like this, like this!
Such a cool 60's vibe. I'm burning this, is that ok? I want to listen in my convertible.
What mics did you use? I really dig that sound. I really can't give any criticism, cause my stuff is not that good. Did you record this yourself?? If so, what'd you use?
this song gets better and better as it goes along.
So groovy, Nanci will love it.

Macle,

You have issues......please get help soon...and stay away from my daughter......

On the technical side, nice production...very well recorded and mixed......very well done.....

"Love..... Love will keep us together..."

:D

Look out Michael Jackson, there's a new King of Pop in town! I like your stuff, Macle...

@ 0:40 & 1:40 the vocals going left is a little distracting. May I suggest a bit of reverb there (maybe on the opposite side) to solve the "alternate sound" thing you're going for? (?) It might balance out the sound while still allowing something different...

MORE! MORE! MORE!

Hey, got a question for ya. Are you making these as demos for you as a performer or songwriter? They sound great as is, and you could probably just collect a bunch together and make your own CD... I mention it 'cuz you've got some great instincts on songwriting AND production, and outside of the moolah and promotion that labels can provide, I don't see why you couldn't just bypass their bullshit.

AND... since you've got such great ears, get yer ass in here and critique some other songs, Macle!!! :D

Oh the words. I didn't relly listen to what it was saying. Interesting conflict between the sound of the music and the subject matter.

Alright! Thanks a lot. I suppose it's okay to burn it, just don't put it on Napster! The mics I used are a TLM103 on acoustics and whatever else, and on the vocal I think I used an AKG SolidTube, which I had borrowed. The TLM103 is horrible, in my experience, on vocals that are a bit edgy. I recorded it myself on Paris.

Thanks very much. I'm glad you dig it!!

Ha, well I guess that's the price I pay for writing it in the first person. I promise to stay away from your daughter, but you probably should give me a picture, you know, so I know who to stay away from.

Other than that, thanks very much for the thumbs up on the production and mix. I really appreciate it!!

Thanks Kelly. Wow, it's great to get such positive feedback. That vocal thing going to the left, I wasn't sure about. I was thinking it would sort of, well, I don't know what I was thinking, but I may end up just putting it back up the middle.

Yeah, I'm making them as a performer and songwriter. I suppose eventually, when I get enough together, I'll put together a CD or something, I don't know.

Thanks again,
Macle

Hey H2H, I never really hear the lyrics of songs a t first either. But I always liked the idea of dark, sort of black comedy type songs. I can't think of any right now, but, um, wish I could think of one. Oh well.

Once again, thanks very much,
Macle

Macle,

my daughter is only 4...you might wanna wait a few years (at least 8...6 if youre in Louisiana)before you try and bang her....

Youre ok...hope you stick around.....

Damn, I like this alot. This is the first song on the board that I've actually listened to more than like 4 times because I like it. Vocals, what kind of effect were on them (at times....kind of like singing through a fan)? It had that whole John Lennon vibe hitting me. Plus they were panned pretty hard. Reminds me of something out of Sgt. Pepper's.....only the subject content is a little more intense than say She's Leaving Home. :) Even the bass had a McCartney vibe to it. And the piano! It realllllly reminds me of Beatles stuff. Only it's like updated. This is the kind of stuff that needs to replace the stuff on the radio now. I wish I had a song in my recording vault that sounded that good. The outro man.....it almost reminded me of Lovely Rita....lol...yea, I got the Beatles in my head. Might wanna extend the outro a bit, cause it doesn't want to stop. Great song.

Peace, love, and chicken,
Mike

Fantastic! That's excellent music and writing macle. Can hear a bit of Argent mixed with 'martha my dear'... Is the hiss at the start some kinda paris plugin or something else? :)

Great singing, playing, song.. you got it made.

Excellent! 5 stars.

:) Reminds me a bit of Squeeze, love the words!
(and I'm glad I've got 3 boys - no girls!!)
Good job - the only comment? I think the snare sound sucks, but that could be personal preference.

Great tune, macle..... I enjoyed it alot! :)

Am I the only one who heard a Joe Jackson influence in this song?
(....with shades of Warren Zevon in the lyrics, too!)

I thought this song was very catchy and clever.... worthy of airplay.

Keep up the great work!

Right on, Mike! Man, you've made my day. You've made my life actually. Something off of Sgt.Pepper!!! That's crazy talk. Thanks a lot!!!!

As far as effects on the vocal, I don't really know what you mean by the going through a fan thing. That's weird. There's really not much effects other than a little reverb and Ren comp.

Thanks very much,
Macle

Wow! Thanks Emeric. I really appreciate it. I didn't realize there was hiss. Maybe it's the MP3 encoding. Maybe that would explain the fan thing (that Mike mentioned above), too, I don't know. I actually encoded this at a better quality at first, but then I did one at lower quality, and I thought that it actually sounded better. It's weird where it will punch holes in the sound.

Anyway, thanks very much for the 5 stars. Really cool.

Macle

Well, I'll explain the fan thing. On the part "Wipe that glass....", is there an effect on that? There's also the sound at the last chorus. This might be the MP3, cause it sounds kind of weird. But it's cool at the same time.

Oh BTW, this song is officially stuck in my head....I hope people don't get the wrong idea when I'm singing it..... :)

Peace love and chicken,
Mike

Thanks sjoko2!! You are safe with just boys, as I'm pretty sure the pyscho in this song is strictly hetero.

Just out of curiousity, what sort of snare do you think would be better? I know it's hard to describe sound, but what didn't you like about the snare? I actually had a hard time, or have a hard time getting the drums to sound the way I want, so that's why it would be great to know more what you're thinking.

Thanks again,
Macle

Thanks Buck! It's cool that people are hearing different influences. Makes me want to check them out to see what the similarities might be (I'm not really too familiar with Argent or Warren Zevon, for example. Squeeze and Joe Jackson I've heard. Whatever happened to Joe Jackson?)

Thanks again, Macle

Hey Mike,
Nope, no effect. Odd. Glad that whatever it is works, though! It's funny that you say chicken, I don't know why you do, but I say that all the time, sort of instead of right on or groovy or cool. You can ask my girlfriend. Sometimes, like a mental patient, I'll just shout out "Chicken!".

Thanks again,
Macle
