Nice clean mix on And I Wonder.

I kept wanting to hear two things. The first was something to break up the rhythm guitar a little, whether with another rhythm instrument added, or something else to make the strumming sound less predictable. It is rhythmically consistent (which is my big bugaboo - variable time signature syndrome). Maybe even something like a little more reverb. The other thing is the vocal eq seems on the high side. A little boost around 1K on the player brought out a bit meatier sound. I want to feel the dynamics as well as hear them.

One trick that was suggested to me is to make a clone of the vocal track, maybe use a different effect, run the volume envelopes a little differently and pan it differently from the original track, and then run them together in the mix.

Not bad. The first song, And I Wonder, the kick was a little too hot and "in your face" for the rest of the mix.
Charlotte's Web, much better. Good mix
Slow Boat was my fav out of the three. Decent tune and mix. The acoustic sounds good on all three to my ear.
That's a SR-16 drum machine isn't it? If you could either get real drums or at least real cymbals (drum machine cymbals suck), that could take your tunes to the next level.

Hi

Thanks for the replys guys I realy appreciate it.
These songs were written about 10 years ago, and recorded on a Fostex R8 reel to reel.
Anyway I just decided to transfer them in to digital on my computer, and see what would happen.
I like to think they turned out pretty good, and still stand the test of time.
I didnt realy do much of a mix on them, just set the levels.
But hey its great to finally get people to here my old songs, and get an opinion.
It realy motivates me to write some more.

Thanks again for listening

Oh for Track Rat.
Yes that is an Alesis SR16
Good ear.

Those tunes were ten years old?

WRITE, M'BOY, WRITE!!

Give us some more!!

:p

cool as

I can`t comment on the mix because I have no right to but I listened to Challottes Web becasue I like the name. I have a slow connection speed, I would love to download more but don`t have time right now, bugger. I loved the way it started and I love the fact that these tunes are 10 years old. Just think what you could do with digital! anyway, just thought that was a cool song...

bye

My thoughts

I thought it was a nice song.

Like another poster, I also thought that something could be done to break up the guitar part. I wished I heard a second guitar part, perhaps the same chord progression moved to a different spot.

I also heard a small issue when the harmony part initially comes in (at about 46 sec) on, "Oh but I question the answers...". The parts were a wee bit out of sync.

Some reverb on the vocals might be nice too.

It was a pleasant song to listen to. Nice work.

I listened to Charlottes Web,(cool title.)

Nice tune.
Vocals and guitar sounded real good.

I don't know if your looking for advice on remixing?
If you are, sounds like the bass drum needs some eq,and I would lose the bass harmony.

Reminds me of the Outlaws.
Some clean guitar lead would fit right in there.

Good stuff

Best to you,
Pete
