playing over dubbin onto new track

when i go to record a new track onto my computer using audio record not mid play back goes into new track how do i prevent this inside the computer or outside on my mixing board even when i unplug my mixer it still does it

im micing my instuments its after i record the first track that bleeds over into the new track it does this every track unless i mute each track then i cant hear the playback either and im running headphones into my mixer
