I record with a delta 1010 and cool edit pro. My first real session was yesterday, and everything went smooth enough, but when I was listening to the songs this morning it was really choppy. Tracks start to skip around, and then one track gets out of time with the others and it sounds awful. This is a huge problem because I can't record vocals over the song if the song is skipping and gets out of time. When I mixed down all the tracks everytrhing was okay, but when I playback in the multitrack view everythng is screwed up. Is this a problem with the soundcard, or CEP? It was the first time I recorded in 24bit, is that the problem? I havn't messed with any settings so I don't know why its messing up now.

"Choppy" playback often indicates a system throughput problem (i.e., can't get enough data through the system to keep the sound output hardware happy). You don't say what (computer) hardware or OS you're using, but if it's an older machine running Win9x (like mine :( ) you may need to defragment your hard drive.

Just a shot in the dark.

well I was looking through all the settings of CEP and the differnt buffers. After I changed one of the playback buffers to 4 instead of 1 the problem seemed to be fixed :)
