Playback pops!

Hello All,

I just got a new puter; AMD Athlon 1.43 Ghz
DDR 256 RAM; M-Audio Delta 66 audio card and tons of hard drive space. OS Win 2000 pro.
My question is; I know my computer can handle audio editing (my old celeron 400MHZ with 192 ram could!), but when I tried recording and playback with ACID and Soundforge it would chop a little bit/ pop and crack/ hesitate while playing back what was recorded. Is there a better setting for the buffer size in these programs I should be using vs the default settings? I looked through some old posts and disabled the POC sound casrd it came with that was sharing the same Interrupt Request #.
Is there anything else I might want to try?

Thanks again for the help.

...

i know there have been issues all over the place with M-audio products and win 2000 and XP
i have a M-audio 24/96 anda delta-44
and both will not work in 2000 or XP (i have to use 98se)
it has something to do with you chipset on the mobo i think
becasue some people have them working fine in 2000-XP

you can also try setting the DMA buffer size to the lowest setting
that works for some people

peace
LB

Also check (in a way...) that your other hardware isn't causing the problem. I had an issue when I updated my network-card drivers, the sound was poping and crackling all over the place...

That probably has more to do with your hardware than 2000/XP. I've been using my Audiophile for a year with no problems on both an older PII-400 as well as my new P4-2.26. I've run it under 2000 and XP Pro/Home with no issues.

How did you fix that Moskus?

moskus... I'm about to answer this question :D But I remember last time I answered question pointed on you, you complain me... :D :D :D

...aaah, forget it... he bought new LAN card... :p

BTW, I got Delta 66 no problem with Win XP. ASUS Mofo... umh... Mobo... and PIII 866. Most crackle/pops problem I found caused by unpropher drivers... Make sure you got one for Win2000 / Nt / XP. Not Win 98...

James.
