Playback OK... But No Line In

Hey,

I recently partitioned my computer to isolate my DAW. That partition is now optimized for performance, but with an unfortunate side effect...

I can hear the playback from waves on the screen, but I cannot hear the line-in/mic. The sound device shows working properly; it appears that the volume controls are set properly; when I perform a device test for mic/playback in the sound device's "voice" tab, both playback AND line-in are audible. I'm at a loss...

I don't want to sound sour, but should I pursue getting advice from another source?

I do respect this community. I have not pursued my hobby since I moved but I'm trying to get it up & running.

Should I post this in a different thread? Should I visit a computer forum? Any advice is appreciated.

I don't know if it applies here, but some "computer" sound cards do not output audio on the headphones when recording...
