you guys i was recording today, and i noticed a big delay in my music when id record. it would be in realtime except like a second late. so i went to audio options, and the lowest it will allow me to set it to is 10 miliseconds. now when im recording the bassplayer, or vocals, this sounds pretty bad... how do i fix it? new audio card?

What's your sampling rate at?
When I got my Delta 44, I had that kinda delay. My buffer was at 10 as well.

My sampling rate was at either 44 or 48 in Sonar.
I turned the sampling rate up to 96, and now my buffer is at 5.3 and I don't have a delay, or at least not a noticable one.

So, check your sampling rate, someone else might know more, but that worked for me.

This is not the way to solve it! Then you record in 96 kHz, just to get lower latency. I'll show you the other way... :)

I'll take the Delta as an example. And set the samplerate to 44 kHz (unless you want to record in 96 kHz)

Open the Delta Control Panel and find a setting which should say something like "Latency Buffer Setting", and set it to 128 samples. Now, open Sonar and go Options -> Audio and hit the Waveprofiler button. Now your latency should be low! :)

@ outlawtorn86

Give us more details: your OS, service packs, CPU-mobo, RAM, card type, drivers version, etc.

Or you can turn off Input Monitoring. :)

Options > Audio > Input Monitoring

Okay, well, it says my latency is down real low like you said. (1-2 ms)
But now it's dropping out every 1 second on regular playback through Sonar, and it's popping/clicking.

Then rise the latency slider step by step from that point...

Actually it's Drag 'till your hearts delight... :D

Hmmm... yeah....

How many $'s do you think we owe in royalties to Acidrock for ACKUS? :D

I am acidrock's agent. He has instructed me to collect all royalty payments for him. Make the checks payable to ACKUS c/o dachay2tnr.

:D :D :D :D

I tell you what...

If you wanna see me stop talking to myself, send 'em to me :D

k running a win XP, wit sonar 2.0XL, through a sound blaster live!... i dont have a delta thingie, but that guy was right , it drops to 5 ms, if i set it to 95khz. does that have a big effect on the music quality?

thanks in advance

No other, than that you won't be able to record in 96 kHz, because your soundcard doesen't support it... ;)

Spoken like a true New Yorker (okay, NJ then:D )

Yes, and as Dachay said: Turn onf Input Monitoring to get rid of the 'delay'. :)

Something between off and on, you know...when the switch got stuck. LOL

Love it, onf

Turn it onf!
