Hey everyone!

I just purchased a Phonic Helix 18 Firewire. Everything works great :) With one exception...

I am using Cubase SX3 to test out the board. So I set track one in Cubase to recieve from Channel One on the mixing desk. I arm the track and record myself speaking into the mic.

The sound is present :) So I know I am recording. Also, when I export the file I can play it back in iTunes and hear what I have recorded. However... the monitoring and playback are not working in Cubase. I have two active monitors connected to the "Control Room Out" on the mixer. This does allow me to hear the mix in real time - but not in playback.

I tried to change the outputs to my computer soundcard but I can only select the Phonic Outputs due to the ASIO driver.

I am happy for the playback to come through the mixer via firewire and then into the monitors but I can't seem to get this working.

Any help is greatly appreciated! :D

mmm that is strange. just to clarify:

1. you have sound playback in windows. i.e you can hear a song in itunes through the monitors taht are hooked up to your firewire unit.
2. you have hardware monitoring working. i.e. you can hear yourself through the monitors that are hooked up to your firewire card in real time when you speakin in to the mic..
3. something definately gets recorded i cubase. you can arm a new track, and you can see a .wav appear after you record something?
4. you have routed that new track's output to the firewire card correctly? in your channel stip where the newly recorded track is, there should be a tab / box for where you want the output to go ( i use sonar/n-trac so i'm not toally sure where it would be).

I can only guess that your problem is with step 4, and the way you have your output routed. hopefully somebody has another suggestion.

Thanks for the reply :)

1. I have headphones plugged into my soundcard :) I can't hear cubase through them or the mixer but I can hear iTunes and all my PC sounds.

2. Correct

3. Correct

4. I'm looking into this now. Thanks :D

Ah ok I've looked at the output routing and it's set correctly "Phonic ASIO Driver Stereo Output"

I was looking into having my Inputs the Phonic Mixer and the Outputs the Creative ASIO but you can't have two ASIO drivers going at once in Cubase :(:(
