Hi pals..
I have some problems with locating the noise and hum which happens while recording..

I have a Live Platinum card and noticed that when I do record thru Line-in input ,the track has some kind of noise..
What do you think is the problem?
I'm using AKGC3000 mic thru my Soundcraft Spiritfolio F1 mixer to pre-amp the signal..And then, thru his out, I'm posting it thru Line-in of the Live card..
When I'm recording the Line-in the noise level is high..Which doesn't happen when recording midi, cd..

What should be the problem? The Soundcraft or maybe the cable between mixer and card? Could it produce some noise If the cable is damaged?

Please suggest me how to resolve it..

Thanx

It could be the cables you are using....It could be that you are not getting a hot enough level for the recording (check the VU's on your software to see that you are getting as close to 0db without hitting it....also consider the possibility that the SB isnt exactly the quietest card for recording out there....

Check your cables, check your levels....

..Listen to this..

It is really driving me mad..
Look what's happening..
I've told you about the noise..
LIVE is generally noisy,I know but, I have some strange kind of hiss, hum which happens only recording in Line-in mode where my cable is attached..

And then..
I've noticed that when I'm scrolling around my display with the mouse, I hear a sound of moving the mouse in the monitors from the output of the card?!!!!

Can you believe it?
I will get mad with this crappy card :((

p.s.Can it be the cable? Or something else?

Try this..........

New to this madness but have the SBPlatinum, and from what I am hearing you say, is sort of a question that I asked in another thread. I was recording from the SOURCE, "what you hear" and asked what repercussions would happen with that. I never heard any "noise" but I was told that when choosing this source it will record any noise that your computer is making while you are recording. You are hearing the mouse scroll, so maybe you are not selecting (or maybe have both selected) the correct source when you are recording, and by accident/mistake are recording from the "what you hear" source. Check that, mine worked okay, but was told that it is best to select the exact source that you are recording from.

Also, a bad cable, 1/4>1/8 adapter, transformer, all could attribute to a "hum" , make sure that all are plugged in solid, IE, like not just halfway plugged in, two clicks instead of just one. Good luck!!!
