Plain steel thirds on acoustic?

Does anybody do this? I recently switched from electric to acoustic and I really hate the wound third.

Also, are "Rogue: by Martin" strings just regular Martin acoustic strings?

goodness, no! i always use a wound third. oh-i like heavier strings. this is not relevant.

from my understanding, there are about 3 lines of martin strings in the style rogue sells bulk of, and one of the lines is, in fact, identical to the rogues (the cheapest line-i have had NO trouble with my bulk rogue strings, and at about $2.50 a set for CUSTOM guages, you can't go wrong. the cheapest i could do on a custom set around here would be 6 bucks, and many places charge more than a buck for a wound string now).

I think if you go to a plain third, you will loose a lot of acoustic resonance. I think that's why they are generally wound for acoustic guitars.

You may also have tuning problems

Accoustic guitars have fixed bridges that are set up for heavier
strings than an electric guitar

I use an unwound G occasionally, but only for that bluesy lead sound. I usually use the thickest one I can find, too. But as I stated... occasionally.
