Pirating Cubase

I will trust you on that Lotus. I guess all the other similar threads had me thinking that here was another person trying to justify the use of pirated software. I make my living doing this and I directly see how some of this affects peoples careers. In the long run my business always wins out, but some kid downloading software and recording for him or his friends does take some of the monthly income away temporarily so I get a little touchy about certain things sometimes:D

I assume you share software that you buy. I don't mean the Mickey Mouse $5 programs. Or maybe it's the little rich creep's at are so generous and want to share their software.

Why wouldn't I share software that I buy, regardless of the cost.

Thing is guys, there's not much we can do to stop it so we're just going to have to deal with it.

Hell I have to admit, even I tried to pirate Cubase SX before throwin down the money for it. And you know what I got? A damn virus that killed my labtop and no cubase. However after that, I decided to just do some good old fashioned research instead before purchasing the software. I was able to find an online academic book store for some college that was selling Cubase SX3 at a discounted price for like 400 bucks!!! Since I wasn't a member of that school, I couldn't purchase it from that store, however I was able to use that price against Guitar Center. All I had to do was call several times in advance requesting their rules for "price matching." They'll summarize them for you, and keep reminding them that you're going to come in soon to purchase Cubase SX3. After I did that a few times, I was able to show up with a print out from the Acedemic Store, proving it could be sold cheaper, and they were stuck. They argued a little bit, but because I had called several times in advance, they were stuck eating their own words. They weren't prepared to have to match such a low price. We compramised at $450. So in the end, legitimate research paid off, trying to steal the software didn't.

oh and I have Fruity Loops 4 as well as Cubase SX3...FL is great as a sequencer...but how can any real producer use only FL? I usually run FL as a plug in through Cubase. FL4 just isn't good for recording.

It would be pretty easy, not legal or in some minds right. but i can easily be done. i dont think stealing is right, but those recording/editing programs are damn expensive.

If you bought Cubase for $600 would you give it out on the net? most likly not. I dont think someone who bought it put it there. It must have been put there by inside people or someone who didnt buy it. Im talking about when it first hit the internet. thats why its freely shared in P2P networks because the one sharing it did not buy it.

dude whats wrong with you, first off i dont think any cubase software is that expensive. and second, though there are probly a few who have the inside, like maybe a few bastards who test the copys, its not like computerstore workers can break into cases and make compies and shit. people who buy programs put there stuff out...its a chin kinda thing somtimes, if they get someones program feel, then why not be "nice" and share your program...right or wrong thats what goes on. so even thought you wouldnt share you shit, the next guy would be happy to...like i said right or wrong.

Cubase SX may not cost $600, but it does cost $599. Also, I know for fact that many a guitar center employee has taken home software that later gets sold.
