Gonna try Fletchers Idea and see how it does. Where I can find a chunk of this? Can someone email me a 20 second clip and I'll just loop it?
Peace
Paul

If you have Adobe Audition it has a noise generator built in and you make your own waves. I dont think a MP3 of pink noise would be to accurate.
Most sound editing software have tone generators.

If not, here is a demo of a signal generator that will give you 15 seconds of hot pink aural satisfaction.

I have about a minute in a .wav file, but it is 10 MB. I'm not sure, but that sounds like a lot to email.

You can also be your own pink noise generator. Just grab a mic, hit record, hold it up to your face, and make a "kkkkkkkkkkk" sound.

Actually, it doesn't have to be pink noise - any random noise signal will work. If you have an FM radio with a mute defeat, the noise between stations will work just fine for this. What you're listening for is an increase in high frequency response and random noise is just easier to hear than a musical source.

Cool. Could you not just assume that an increase in high freq resp would happen directly in front of the voice coil and slap it there? Of course that rarely sounds good at all.

Ha...always have someone like me...what is pink noise?

Pink Noise
Test tone featuring equal amount of energy per octave of bandwidth. This compares to white noise, which features an equal amount of energy per Hz (cycle per second) of bandwidth. Pink noise and white noise are common test signals with pink noise used frequently to adjust equalizers for a flat frequency response.

It can be used to RTA a room or test speakers.
You can get a good demo of a RTA which has a pink noise generator at
