hi!

i just received a copy of a user manual to my studiomaster series 5 20/8/2 desk where i could read that the mic inputs and the balanced outputs have their in-phase signal on pin 3 and therefore the out-of-phase signal on pin 2.

it´s clear for me to take this into account when connecting balanced outs from this board to other equipment, but is it relevant for connecting microphones? would i have to rearrange pin2/3 connections on the microphone cable to suit this? i already worked with the board and "normal" mic cables and didn´t find something wrong, i´m just curious if there´s something i might miss ...

thx for any insights!

There is no problem using mics that are wired as pin 2 hot, and a board that is wired pin 3 hot. Phase is relative, so as long as all the mics being used are pin 2 hot, then they will all be in phase with each other.

my thoughts went in this direction, but i couldn´t find the explanation - now i´m perfectly sure, thanks!
