Pickups for custom guitar

I was thinking of building an ax with the EMG's , and then jam in a P90 ... due to the decreased output of that SC i would be able to get really nice soft clean tone s and get all the goodies from the emg..

Still not sure bout the axe though... i might just pick up an epi gothic les paul... i think they look sweet... anyone got comments (no not about epi inn general please...;) )

I don't like active pickups - they just sound too sterile for my taste.

Get a Duncan Mag for the bridge and a '59 for the neck

I almost picked up a Studio Gothic, but got a wine red instead. IMHO, the Gothics look sweet.

Regarding the Epi's, from what I recall, they originally weren't made in mahagony. Now they are (I think).
 
alll mahogany... plus NEW schaller tuners standard on the goths... that's 60 bucks you can keep in your pocket...
