Looking for a neck humbucker that, when split, has a pretty convincing strat neck sound.

What guitar are you putting this into? As you likely know....the Strat sound comes from a number of elements...ranging from the trem block to the body and neck...etc...etc. Getting close to it will be difficult at best.

2 cents worth of.......good question.....elusive answer.

Strats have a staggered pin configuration to even the strings. Their pickups have a lower resistance, for a vintage sound.

You could split a PAF vintage design humbucker, using the stud side. The output will be reduced from the split.

How about splitting the stud side of the neck and bridge together in series in a 'broadbucker' solution?

It's going in an HH strat (from GFS parts I'm told, so I don't really know what the body wood is). Maple neck, but that shouldn't matter.

The point is, I want something that I can revert to a fairly stratty neck sound and still maintain a 'bucker in that position.

Just thought someone might have an idea. Thinking about just taking it to a standard SSS, but I'll probably go HSS.

I am entertaining the idea of putting a Phat Cat in the neck.

I'm following this. I've been experimenting for YEARS and in my experience, splits sound "different" but never "Fendery". Just sayin

Yeah, I've never heard one eitrher, so I asked. Nobody seems to even claim that they can do it. If I didn't already have an HH strat that I want to change the pickups on, I probably wouldn't even be attempting it. But if I replace it with another humbucker, then I don't have to do a new pickguard too.

Splits are weaker.

Many companies suggest against wiring them for splitting now.

Hey man, the plates swap out real easy. Loosen strings and 11 screws. I have a few for my strats. They are on Quik Connects.

Kinman does em right. You want the 2 in 1 and their special push/pull switch.

Measure your pole spread and order the correct neck F spacing!

Thanks, I'll check them out. But I know I don't have 280 to spend on a pickup.

All the same guitar with different innards. Top is two humbuckers and a series/ parallel switching option. Next incarnation is single pole bridge and a Demarzio super Distortion in the neck. The split is on a switch and again series/ parallel switching. The current configuration is three Fender singles with the neck pickup on a switch so it can be added. I can use bridge and neck together (a different quack) and all three on.

I'm assuming the Super is the split? And that's a tele bridge? What kind?

So the HH isn't split? And what are they?

Had to do this because I couldn't delete the post. >:(

Are you still looking?

Yeah. I've run across one advertised locally from a guy I trust, but I need to look up videos to see it in action. It's a DiMarzio humbucker that's supposed to sound like a P90, but sound like a strat when split.

Why, you got something?
