Picking the right monitors

Hello, I am looking for your advice. I am starting to put together a tape based studio but i need some advice on picking the right monitors. I just bought a Tascam 388 so i was mainly wondering if i should go active or passive. The room i will be putting them in is about 10x9.

You need to get out there to a vendor's store and "listen" to monitors.

To begin, you don't need expensive monitors. The KRK ST8 passives were my recent upgrade from Yorkville passives; very nice move up. Not very many pezzutos needed for the KRKs.

So, research, visit a vendor, ask a friend, tune into this site, read, evaluate, and open your wallet.
