It's random on certain channels. Again, it is ONLY when Dolby S is engaged, so logic may say it could be something in the Dolby system searching for noise and sparking the LED circuits as it sweeps through doing its job. If it doesnt' have a strong signal via recording, maybe it is just overly doing its job, and the meter sensors are reacting to the electronic stimuli. OK, as long as I believe that, I guess it's alright
I agree, though. It is not an issue during play, record, Rew, or FF, so I am not going to worry about it.
What cool machines reel to reels are, though, I must say. I've recorded on reels before but in studios in my youth and in my youth did not pay that much attention to the mechanics, only that I had a product at the end. Can't wait to hear the rest of the timbres through it. Tile work in my bathroom is being done simultaneously, so little play time on the MSR for me, little tile work for the wife
Thanks for the input, man
ps-I was hitting the red pretty hard on the MSR on my diddling, only because I'm getting used to the new setup coming from a portastudio, so there is a learning curve I'm dealing with. But in short, yes, I was redlining pretty hard on track 1 so maybe, as you said, that is jumping my track 2 meters. Once I get more familiar, I'll isolate track 2 and check for bleed.
