Hello.

When I manually input a 4-bar phrase and then copy it and paste it a number of times, how can I make changes to an individual instance of one of the phrases without the changes being automatically made to the other phrases too?

Cakewalk is adding notes to all phrases when I only want to add them to one phrase.

thanks a lot for any help

Hi Mark,

Welcome to the BBS!!

I haven't got the manual or the program in front of me, but I know it has to do when when you paste or copy it, there is a 'linked' track option. If this is selected, any change you make in one will be replicated in all of them.

Hope this helps,

Porter

PS, I usually browse this BBS from work, hence no manuals.

Welcome to the the board, Mark... :)

Well, first of all, we don't call it "duplicate note". Duplicate note is when there's two or more exact notes/keys present on exactly same place (time, duration, channel, etc.). Anyway, to solve your problem, you need to un-check the "link to original" in Paste dialog box. So, copy the phrase (measure?) and when pasting it, look for "link to original..." in left bottom part of the box. Uncheck it...

Hope it helps,
;)
