Yeah that was the Alesis piano.. I switch sometimes from the Roland piano(which I think is generally better).. The Alesis seems to have better sound quality to it though.. I dont know, maybe its me. I will definitely be using the Roland piano next time I'm in the mood to record some piano..

I am working on my flow and transitions... Hopefully the next one will be better.. I will certainly try harder..

first time ive really checked out a few of your songs..

great variety... I love that!

that sax calaboration is what music is all about having fun

are those v-drums or something ..they sound excellent!

the springtime tune went in directions i wouldve never guessed.. i gave her a few listens and I noticed the piano playing is nice... those transitions are bitch arnt they theres so many things you could do. Vocals are very cool..sounds like Staley. You gots lots of talent dude. Keep jamming!

Hey Sam, or Sab, or Sam ...

I am listening to Springtime Motivational ... Again you have done an excellent job at catching a mood, and the surprises in your music is what keeps me coming back for more listens!

This one was different from some of the other stuff I have heard from you, but that is probably because of the absence of guitars. It worked well on this tune. I dug your vocals again with that processing. I love the way the song breaks right around 3:45 or so (it does the same break earlier)...this adds a new dimension.

I also liked your use of sound effects on this track!

I really liked this tune. If I had any other feedback to give, I would say maybe add a longer fade or a more dramatic ending. It kind of peeters out at the end. This track is worthy of something bigger, or maybe just a fade.

I liked it a lot!

So here I am, and I'm liking what I'm hearing from you as I usually do. This is, for one, a really pretinent idea (people need to be outside more), and a solid track. It's cool cause it kinda shifts moods a whole bunch of times and keeps a nice theme throughout. I don't know what it is in particular about the transition from the piano to the loud organ part, it just seems to not all hit at once, if that makes sense. I don't think the drums are that horrible but should be out in the mix more, fuckit if they're canned. Kinda reminds me of a Moby-esque type tune, which coming from me (and not many here) is actually a compliment. A neat song, covers a lot of genres in a cool way and has a wide range of sounds that all seem to work together well in creating your mood, nice work man!

Hey listened to safety hats too, guess I didn't know this track by name, was a bit young when it was around. Must say I much prefer your version, love the drum breakdown, and the vocal sound, though it could be a little more upfrount. That guit solo kinda reminds me of Marty on Back to the Future when he's auditioning, which again is a complement. Hey, you said before that your drums are canned, what do you use for drums usually (seq-wise) and/or where you find your (drum) samples (or what module)? They sound nice and full.

hey laj, I use the Roland TD-8 sound module on everything now. The only recommendation I would make to your brother would be not to worry about using cheap pads with a good sound module. The guys at the store made me think it was a rediculous idea using cheap pads if you couldnt afford the good ones. You can get the cheaper pads for about 70 beans a piece, or by the V-pads for about 450 a piece. I would like to get a V-pad or two one day, but that's a healthy nut right there. I dont know what to recommend, but most of my tunes are the TD-8 without any external processing. I just put the outs directly into the recorder with no compression or e.q. At least he can hear what it sounds like.. and it's hooked up with mostly Roland PD-5's, 1 PD-9, and a PD-7.

Kewl, thanks for the advice, I've been wondering about what you lose when you just go with a nice sound module and cheaper pads, which is probably how he'll end up going. I just may take you up on that offer---if my bro ever gets some cash.....

hey Laj,

the main thing you lose going with cheaper pads is some dynamics, and also the more expensive pads allow you to have different sounds per pad...it sounds different hitting the rim than it does hitting the center.. also the ability to choke the cymbals. Depending on what kind of tunes though, it may not matter..
