Piano beat needs some help...

...No replies?...Very unfortunate on my part. I was hoping I would have some things to read before class started in 30 minutes. Hmm...

Well, I think the beat is very appealing to the ear, a little elementary on the piano, but it still sounds good in my opinion. I might need to change out a part of the kick, it's not mixing well, the bass hits decently well, I made the bass drop to the tune of the piano, to mix it better.

It's short, because I didn't want to give you a 5 minute beat with the same things over and over. I was thinking about putting a synth in there, but I'm not sure if I should just put an acoustic guitar to play with the Piano and make it sound interesting in that aspect, or if I should put a soothing synth in there and work out the qwerks and make it hella cool.

If you have any ideas, let me know.

As for the vocals of what I'm going to do on it, I'm probably going to have my girlfriend sing over it for the chorus line, and I'll rap over it for the verse, in a softer way, I want to make myself versatile so I'm trying different things to see what I'm better at, a nd where I need to improve.

Thanks in advance to those who eventually respond....................Fyre....Mindset....NODDY....etc.

not bad, I'm listening through my notebook speakers, so I can't tell how well the drums are mixed, but from what I hear, the drum kit might need to be changed particularly the kick, or mixed better. I would probably change the drums around a little bit, add some strings in there most def. good job homie, keep at it.

Done. and Done.

Updated. and ...Updated?

I also updated the latest Why Are They Lieing? Song too, I edited the vocals a little. So check that one out too.

But otherwise, the orignal is updated on my SoundClick. Check it, lemme know, I added quite a few changse to it, to pipe it up, I may have over did it, though.

I agree with Mindset that strings need to be added. It's very basic and the drums need to be tweaked, The kick needs to be changed up...it sounds like it's trying to figure out whether it needs to go harder or blend in. Once you answer that question, it'll make it easier to figure out how to continue arranging the drums.

I would take the snares out at the end completely. They sound like a bounce song is about to start and it's not. The pizzicatos are lacking there too.

How did you make this beat? I mean did you start with the melody or the drums first? Here's something that I use for my beats. If I'm making something slower like for r&b or ballad stuff, I'll start with the main melody and let it control the shape of my track. If I'm wanting something that's more focused on the drums, I'll start there (usually I don't have a main melody in my head OR I'm trying to make something that I can blend a melody in my head with).

Change the drum pattern. The piano melody is WAAY too elementary. Too many "single" key plays. Maybe you can change the WHOLE piano instrument and keep the melody for an instrument you CAN be elementary with, say an oboe or a clarinet..Open your brain to a variety, get out of the box..not saying ur in it..im just sayin

I get what you're saying.

I started with the melody, and worked into the drums, I knew the drum pattern was totally not matching. I'll work on that. I'll also work on the pizzi's and the ending...

The piano melody is very elementary as I wanted it to be, because complexity in this aspect wouldn't make the same outcome as I'm going for. I'm going for simplicity and amazement. In other words, I'm going to leave the piano, and change a few things. Try to make the simplicity work with it.

Thanks for the comment, finally. Though.

Well u have the simplicity..but its FAR from amazing

I understand your desire for simplicity, but if EVERYTHING in the track is simple then...well you have yourself an amature beat. This is not a slam...nor am I calling you an amature. I'm just saying, you can only go so far with the "simplicity" thing.

The drums need to be shaken up and re-sequenced in my opinion. If the piano is going to be your simple element then something needs to be changed.

The artificial distorted guitar (I'm takin' a guess on that one) sounds off pitch. Maybe a different patch will do there.

Experiment with some wierded out pads and/or efx. Something needs to bring it to life. Otherwise it's just a plain ole loop.

It does have potential though. Keep at it and re-post it when u get the vocals in...

Hmm...

I don't know what to say I guess.

I thought, myself, it was pretty good. I'm not sure what else to change to make it sound better, honestly. I thought throwing some vocals on it might enhance it enough.

As for the "guitar thing" yeah, it's a violin and it is off beat, but when it's turned down it blends in, but I accidentally put up the wrong version, and didn't have a chance to re-upload the other version.

On the aspect of change, I like it the way it is. I'm not sure where you guys are coming from on calling it amateur ..not me, the beat. As I listen to some beats from everything that's bangin' today, all it needed was a bit-o-vocals and it's poppin'.

I guess I'll have to figure some vocals out to show it. Because I'll tell you somethin' right now, half those producers out there that have "hits" and are "rich" from radio play, and cd sales, can't make 'SHIT' for a beat. As for me, I can't either, but I can sure as hell make better shit than some of them.

I'm a little stressed and I thought I was going to get good reviews on it, so don't mind my comments. I'll be in a better mood on the update of it.

That far from amazing, eh?

Interesting...Wheres the encouragement?.......

The encouragement lies with me not lying to you, and pumping ur head into thinking u have a banger when in reality you dont

Name three..Lapse youre my man, but you just gotta take the criticism and run with it instead of fighting back..but with all do respect if you like the beat then thats you by all means, I CANNOT fight ur creativity...~Nod Im done.

Word. Just a bad night to come on the threads tonight bro. My apologies.

Not meaning to fight back, I take the criticism I'm going to work on the beat and I'm going to make it a banga, but.. as for now, it's time to rest, no more computer for me. I'm getting cranky. :)

Thanks. Much appreciation.

PS: As for naming 3... I can make a better beat than the beat used on Soulja Boy - Crank That, Sean Kingston - Beautiful Girls(*I point this out because "I" no JOKE was 'bout to make a beat based off of that SAME sample, (Stand by me) because I played the tuba in band and it kicked ass as a low tone, with some bass'n'kicks!*) & as for a third, I'd have to name Hurricane Chris - Ay Bay Bay..................

Not particular producers, but particular SONGS. Nevertheless, I'm cranky I could be wrong!

...PPS..G'night

NEVER.....EVER.....compare yourself to the worst.

If you listen to nothing else I say on this forum, believe THAT.

will do bruh. that was just a nonsense rant, I was more or less pissed at my Math assignments for class, and I took it out on ya'll. My appologies for real.

I'll do better next time.

Am I finally goin up? Whew, I better sit down.

I guess it can't be that bad. I already have someone that wants the beat, I'm working with him now on it. He's not good at writing lyrics, but holy hell does he have a voice. I'm assisting him with the lyrics, recording, and mastering. Woo.. Finally.

--Re-lapse

EDIT: I wanted to hear his voice, so I had him record his voice over a Josh Groban song that he knew, here it is, if you want to check it out.

:D

I'm listening to it. Sounds a lot better than it did when I first listened to it. It's still simple but that's what you're going for. Hopefully when you add the vocals, it'll make it hot

That's what I'm hoping too, I'm settin stuff up with him, I'm going to make two versions. One with just him, and one with me and my girlfriend. Just for the hell of it. My girlfriends got one hell of a voice, but she gets all nervous in front of the mic, ya know? so Imma work her into that, and get her to shine on that.

So, hopefully in the short future we'll have a finished product, right now I'm working on vocal editing and how to go about adding stuff to the vocals, aside from the echo that I know how to do and thats it......... know of any better programs besides audacity?
