Fellow Utarn!!

Dude this sounds exactly like the EX-5 keyboard... 'tis a yamaha, no?

Hearing some "Chariots of Fire" in there... did you just record this live? IMHOP it would benefit with a smidge of quantization... just sounds a bit stilted in certain passages...

Very simple song... a good start to something anyway... the thing about this is... everything sounds like it's coming from the "same box"... know what I mean? The same "depth"... you could dial in some reverb for background sounds... possibly add some light percussion, to beef up the thing... as is, it's ... still in the "ditty" stage... not quite a "song"...

Would be nice to hear some meat added to these bones.

I dig it. although it's very simple, but the mood is there. Some of the velocities are rather low at some parts, and i think it will sound better if more attack was added to them.

pretty cool.. could use something else though.. also sounds like there's a few rough spots.. I love piano and strings together.. Those voices are recognizable Roland.. Very similar to the voices off of the Orchestral 2 card.. I have an XP-30..(I know this is the XV series)

I liked it..

Very nice sir. Two VERY slight complaints I hear kind of a halo of fuzz in the background. I don't know if it's an MP3 artifact or what. Also the last note ends kind of abruptly. It might have been a little smoother if you allowed it to decay. Jeez, I sound like an asshole. I do like this.

Man it's really like dreaming. Very romantic. I'm not really a mixer. more musician. But what can you do worng in the mix? I'm at work now. We have here some very bad speakers. I gonna listen this at home and put it on when I make love to my woman.

Thanks guys.

The piano patch is called piano plus air pad. I'm working on decoupling the piano and air pad sounds into two tracks so I can add some slight reverb to the piano.

A1A2 - Your comment was right on, there are definitely some performance issues to overcome.

B.Sabbath - Any comments on the quality of the Roland String or Piano cards? I'm using stock XV-5050 sounds right now. It does need another element, probably percussion, nothing jumps out at me right now.

Track Rat - I think that fuzz is the air pad kicking in when I play low notes on the piano plus air pad patch. Hopefully that will be cleared up when I decouple the two sounds. I still need to add an outro and clean up the ending.

I spent the whole weekend wondering if this song was worth refining or just another self indulgent piece of crap. Thanks for the encouragement.

My first thoughts were it sounds exactly like some stuff on my XP-30.. or even the JV 10-10. (with the Orchestral 2 expansion card) I was considering the new XV series, but for the most part I havent heard anything that sounds drastically different.. The sound quality seems to be a little better, but since it's still 64 voice, I don't know how much they can improve without making the jump to 128 voice.. I tried out the XV 20-20, and it had some good sounds, but I'm not completely sold on it because it doesnt seem that much better than what I have..

This tune sounds good though, and probably one of the differences is that some of the sounds that come stock, were probably ones that previously you could only get on JV expansion cards.. not sure...

I do like this tune.. I'll keep an eye out for new tunes by you.. I am curious to hear the other sounds that can come out of that thing..

Not bad. Do you have a sustain pedal? I couldn't hear one in use and it would definately help smooth out your playing a little bit. That's pretty tough to do solo piano without one.

My keybaord has a pedal jack on the back and I've been wondering what it was for, guess I'll get the pedal and experiment.

I've tried editing some piano notes to lengthen then but instead on sustaining and dying out gracefully the notes just sort of decay into this low level digital drone, very shitty fidelity. I don't know if this is typical of all synth piano patches or if I would do better if I bought one of the paino sound expansion cards for my Roland.
