Phono Preamp

I want to record some of my vinyl to my PC so I can edit it and burn it to CD, but its not at line level. What's a good phono preamp? I've seen cheap ones for $30, and nice rack pieces for upwards of $150. Whats the deal on those?

The good ones sound A LOT better than the cheap ones.... BUT - that's also dictated by the quality of the rest of your gear.... if you've got a very revealing audiophile system, then you hardly want to run the immaculate sound quality of say, a Thorens turntable, thru a Radio Shack phono pre.....!
