I have been reading with great interest the thread regarding Zeke's new website, Phatman Studios.

The thing I noticed that there are many who seemed bent on attacking this young man's attempt to build a website with the very limited resources available to him.

Then there are those who have tried to help him in a constructive manner regarding content, spelling, etc. Kudos to you folks.

In the meantime, I've contacted Zeke to offer some help of a different kind. I'm am currently working on building him a nice website free of charge. Instead of telling him that he can't spell, I hope I'm helping him in the same manner others helped me when I was young.

If you're interested, feel free to click on the link below and visit the beginnings of Zeke's new website. I say beginnings as I've only finished the entry page and the about us page. And as always, I welcome constructive critisism regarding my abilities.

But you have a lot of mispelled words on that page!

Personally, I don't think anyone was bent on hurting his feelings, but that doesn't really matter at this point.

Was quite kind of you to offer, and work on his website, very nice indeed.
 
Well, I had to do some research regarding the Disc Maker and Digi Pack things. Wasn't familiar with them... :confused:

I run into this all the time. No color scheme will ever satisfy everyone so I have to pick something and go with it.

Thanks for the kudos on the graphic! I love Photoshop!

Yeah, it does, photoshop is a good thing.

I wish I could use it to that degree. I need to draw a monkey for my logo, but so far any monkeys I draw look an awful lot like a donut.

Not sure how that happens, but it does.

Not sure if you folks remember but I'm the one who designed the "ACKUS" (all cool kids use sonar) logo.

BTW, think of the color scheme as "SONAR" green! :D

I would like to have some of the Eye Candy plug-ins but I'm too cheap. :eek:

While I really love Photoshop now (began with 5.0, now using 7.0), I endured a long. arduous learning curve. But I feel pretty comfortable with it now.

That looks great, and as Michael said, you are mighty big to take this on. I think most of us wish nothing but the best for Zeke and this site should be beneficial to his cause. I've sympathized with his plight in trying to set this up, but I have absolutely no experience with website design so I stayed out of it.

There is one little spelling error, though, if I can rain on the parade. Disc Makers is spelled with a "c" not a "k" (ie. Disc not Disk).

Anyway, I like the green (Meekly Sonar?) and look forward to the completed site.

Well, I dislike most graphic programs because I can't draw :D

Now, the gent (or gal) who invents a software that can take my verbal descriptions, and create the image as I describe, will be truly wealthy for the duration of their life.

Then you'all could tell the different between my drawing a monkey, and drawing a donut :D

I have some suggestions for your first/enter page...

Take out the <P> tags pushing the logo to the bottom of the page. And in the <BODY> tag add these attributes: scroll="auto" style="overflow: auto;"

I usually use those tags in every page.
But really, center that logo proper - Center and Middle


'cause right now on my screen you load up that page. And there's a logo, and both a Vertical and horizontal scroll bar.

Just do a simple table:
<table cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" border="0" width="100%" height="100%">
<tr>
<td align="center" valign="middle">img|link</td>
</tr>
</table>

that and that body tag above and a way cleaner splash page for all resolutions, or most unless you're onl like 480x???, yuck

Make sure to change the color for visited links. Bright blue + that green background makes the links impossible to read after you've clicked on them once.

Honestly, I prefer Zeke's design, but that's just me :)
