i believe i am leaning towards just buying a daw.

the ones im looking at are the yamaha ag16 and the korg d1600..

i feel that if itll record the drums how i want them, it will do anything.

so heres the questions.

im gonna mic my drummer with 7 mics, 2 of them as overhead condensors.

do all of the mics need phantom power? if so does the yamaha have 7 inputs with phantom power?

and can you do punch ins on the yamaha?> how extensive are the editing functions? it just looks more user friendly so i will be getting it soon. thanks.

Yo GTR:

As I recall, the AW16 has only TWO inputs that have phantom power, like my Yam 2816. But, if I'm wrong, Dinsdale or someone will correct me.

Only thing I can think of if you need phantom power for multiple mics, [not all mics need phantom power] is that you buy a phantom power service unit and run it through a patch bay.

Hope you have a big room to record in.

Green Hornet :D  :p

The 2 condensers will need phantom.
If the other 7 are dynamics, they won't.

I dont know much on that Yamaha you are referring to though.
Are you sure that's the correct model #?

The "green of all the hornets" just stung you with the answer. ;)
