Has anyone ever used a Peavey PVM-48?

They look very much like an SM-57 but are electret condensers. I have the opportunity to buy a couple but have knowledge of their capabilities.

Any comments appreciated.

Not familiar with a PVM-48, but if you mean a PVM-480, they are a pretty decent small diaphragm cardioid condensor (better than an AKG C1000, not as good as a KM84...). Should sell for about $200 US, maybe a bit more.

Definitely not a 480. I found a pdf. file on the 48 on Peavey's site by using the search function there, but that doesn't tell me what I need to find out.

Thanks anyways.

They were using this mic at the National Fingerpick/Flatpick/Banjo championships at Winfield, KS this year as the contestant’s mic. I thought it sounded excellent through the sound system there. I ask the sound guy about it and he said it was no accident that he was using it – it really was a great mic. I was so impressed that I’ll probably end up getting one myself. I think you can find them used for around $80.

Flatpicker,

Thanks for that info. I know where there may be 5 of these for sale but I wont have an idea of pricing until either Saturday or ealy next week.

Sounds good. Let me know if there are any more for sale and how much they are.

UPDATE;

I'm still trying to tie this guy down to a price........these mics were found in a box somewhere in his "pro-audio" business. They may have been a part of his hire dept's inventory, although they don't look to have been knocked about.

Pvm-480

I'm getting a deal on audio hardware, 7 PVM-480 mics at 25euros a pop..
I'd think definetly worth buying them all, some may have been used, but in perfect condition?????? Decent mics and cheap???:D

I have one of those Mics....I got it off of e-bay used last year for $10 ,I use it for overheads on my Drum kit and they sound pretty good...

Those PVM 48 microphones are very nice. I have a few of them. Compared to the PVM480, though, they are not quite as crisp on the high end.

Both microphones can be had at very reasonable prices on eBay. Actually far below their performance level.
