Peavey pv14

I'm looking for a good (quiet) mixing board and have noticed the Peavey pv14 usb model....planning to use its preamps in some recording and its high impedance inputs to digitize a bunch of old 4 track analog recordings, done years ago on a Teac 3340s...anyone here have experience with this model?

I have experience browsing for one and was persuaded against it by a friend of mine who generally knows what he's talking about - he's a guitarist, live sound engineer, and carries a Masters in Engineering (ie. not audio).

He told me that the pre-amps have a pretty high noise-signal ratio and are 'pretty naff' for recording. However, I haven't tried one personally - that's just advice I was given. Hope that helps a bit.
