Good deal! The Classic 30 and 50 have kind of a britsh edge to them but more like a britsh meets american . . . a 70 % slab of britain, and a nice 30% piece of the good ol' USA.

Vox meets Fender on the clean.

Vox meets Marsahll on the dirty.

Good amps.

I love peavey gear.

It's a hour and a half drive to Meridian Ms for me....so....if a piece of peavey gear screws up I can haul ass to Meridian and they will fix it for me on the spot and most of the time they only charge parts....no labor...even if it's an old piece of equipment, (they will drop whatever they are working on for a "drive-in gig emergency"....THATS customer service!!!)

Plus their stuff is pretty rugged..

The Peavy Classic series has some great amps. IMHO their stuff has been killing any compairable Fender product for the last 5 years. Theyre pretty bullett proof as well.

I'd go for it. I bought one a few years back, but it was a bit too loud for an apartment.

Took it back and got the Classic 30. I chose it over the comparable Fenders.

well i went ahead and bought it, sounds great

my only concern is that i was playing and i heard a pop and the volume lowered, then a few minutes later another pop and it went back up

also i opened up the back and touched one of the el84s and got a huge shock and the speaker made the same pop, i own another tube amp, a peavey vtm with 6l6's, and i never had a problem touching them

and my final question, HOW THE HELL DO I GET THOSE TUBES OUT OF THERE!?!?! THEY'RE CAGE IN TO WELDED METAL

Sounds like a power tube is going out.... I had this problem a few weeks back... Essentially in a class AB amp one tube (or set of tubes) amplifies half the signal and the other tube (or set of tubes) amplifies the other half of the signal. The change in volume you hear is part of the signal being cut out by one of the tubes cutting out....

This is very odd. How can you get a shock from glass? Glass is an insulator, not a conductor.

That is a great deal my friend bought one for quite a bit more then that. Fortunately it was still worth it. It has a good blues tone to it hope you like it when you get it fixed.

Especially since you have no idea how old the tubes that are in the amp are, it would probably be a good idea to go ahead and re-tube it anyway. Then see if your problems are still there.

I dont know, all i call tell you is i touched the tube and i got a shock that hurt like hell, and the speaker made that pop noise you hear when you turn a tube amp off sometimes. theres a capacitor right next to the metal base that the tubes are in, it looks like its touching it, could this be what shocked me?

How about attributing that to its rightful source - Willie Dixon?
The jimistone part of that signature is from another signature, that was my quote, that I had on....im just too lazy to go bck and delete it.

Are there actually people that would assume that "we gonna pitch a whang dang doodle all night long" is my line? I kind of doubt it.
