Hi,
I have been wanting to get an external control surface for mixing in Cakewalk and I've come across a brand new StudioMix for $425(US$). Has anyone had any experience with this product or does anyone have a better recommendation? If I went with a different mixer, i would not want to spend more than $700 (US$) on it.

I am using Cakewalk's Sonar with a MOTU 24i I/O with the PCI-324 and my computer's Sound Blaster Live Platinum.

Any info. would be appreciated.
Thanx,

Jim

Guitar Center was selling them for $199 last year, $425 sounds outrageous for a product that is discontinued ( I think).

I have used one, it does what they say it will, but $425? Pass.

Keep in mind, StudioMix is not a mixer, it is just a way of using Cakewalk without a mouse. I thought it was pretty cool, my buddy loves his, but I could find a bunch of ways to spend $ 425, It is not worth it. $425 could score you some nice stuff. Cheers.

bundy, are you talking about that external console with transport buttons and mixer as kind of a recorder interface?
If so, it just seemed to me a cheap & cheezy novelty.
No sustitue for a quality mixer and no reason to pay $200 to avoid mousing.
Does this thing even have onboard A/D?
