I would like to be able to use my peavey 16 mixer in cahoots with my tascam dp-02cf. my mixer has to have powered speakers (which I have) so I should not have to buy speakers just for the tascam as I should be able to use my speakers connected to my mixer.
my question is....how do I connect my mixer to my tascam? my mixers sound comes from my laptop which is connected to the mixer. this is due to my laptop also being my karaoke player. all songs on laptop go to mixer to be played.
I am NOT the smartest person in the world so if your willing to help, I can send you a picture of my mixer with its various plugins. I have all the cords already. I just need to know where to put each cord. (p.s. can my tascam also record my karaoke music if people are singing thru the mixer? for shows it would be kind of cool to be able to record people and maybe even charge them a fee for buring there singing to a disk.
but please help me with mixer/ tascam hookup first and that is wayyyy more important.
many thanks in advance.

p.s. my email is k.marth@comcast.net if you wish to write to me directly.

I'm not familiar with the Peavy mixers, but I'll give a quick answer, at this time anyway. You should have a couple of different outputs on your mixer. There should be a "main" out, "Control Room out" (if it the mixer is for recording as well as live use), and usually at least one other output. You should be able to connect the control room (or which ever alternate, as I'm assuming your main outs are running to your powered speakers) outs to the DP-02CF. As such, you should be able to record the karaoke sessions. You will of course have to set up the DP-02CF (assigning tracks to record to, arming the tracks, and setting the input levels) and then record away. If your Peavy doesn't have headphone monitoring capabilities, you could use the DP-02 for that, if needed.

Good luck and have fun with it!;)
